Why it was built
The requirement wasn't just to build another online store. The goal was to run multiple eCommerce storefronts from the same underlying application and database, while keeping each store's branding and customer-facing presentation separate.
What went into it
Built the complete eCommerce workflow covering products, variants, inventory, cart, checkout, orders, customers and store operations.
Built the CMS and admin system for managing the storefront and commerce data.
Powered three separate storefronts HyperDrip, TimeandSole and SoleHours from the same application and database, with different branding and color presentation.
Worked across the frontend, backend, database and deployment as part of a two-developer team.
Integrated AI functionality into the platform alongside the core eCommerce and CMS workflows.
Technical decisions
- 01
Used a shared Laravel application and MySQL database to power multiple storefronts instead of maintaining separate codebases for each store.
- 02
Designed the storefront layer so HyperDrip, TimeandSole and SoleHours could present different branding and color combinations while using the same underlying commerce system.
- 03
Kept the eCommerce workflow and CMS in the same application so products, inventory, orders, customers and storefront content could be managed from a central admin system.
- 04
Built the platform around reusable commerce functionality rather than duplicating the same features for each storefront, making changes to the core system available across the stores.
- 05
Integrated AI functionality into the existing platform alongside the core eCommerce and CMS workflows instead of treating it as a separate application.
Outcome
The result is a shared eCommerce and CMS platform powering three separate storefronts HyperDrip, TimeandSole and SoleHours. Each storefront has its own presentation and branding while the underlying commerce, CMS and administrative workflows remain managed through the same application.
Storefronts
All storefronts run on the same underlying application and database, with different branding and color presentation for each domain.
